England's POV{

Alfred, the personification of United States, came to talk to me one day. I'd already grown used to him being taller than me.
"Hey, England..." His voice trailed off, as if wanting to say something.
"What is it." I had inquired, stamping a document for taxes towards the US. In all honesty, I hated doing this. It was just I needed money because of that stupid seven-years-war.
"Can I have freedom, Iggy?" He asked.
"What?!" If I had been drinking something, I would've spit it all out. Instead of correcting him on my name, I calmly said, "You wouldn't want that."
"Why not?!" His asked, his tone darkening. I could feel his glare.
I held my tongue before I could go into a list of responsibilities. "Freedom... isn't free..." I said simply. The room seemed to get so dense it could've been cut with a knife.
Alfred glared at me before stomping off. Little twat. "I'll get my freedom!" He yelled angrily over his shoulder.
I sighed, looking at the document in front of me. I knew I would regret this. I knew he wouldn't give up. But I didn't know the half of it back then.
Just a little one shot I wrote half a year ago.

I suck at one-shots XD

I don't own anything 'cept for the plot.

Freedom isn't free... That is a very true statement. It makes me sad that many Americans have pretty much fallen asleep and don't give a shite about what's happening to their constitutional rights and freedoms. If that's how their gonna act, why the heck did we separate from Britain in the first place?! To gain our freedom only to lose it by taking it for granted and falling asleep?
